Benny, een eerstejaars student aan de Universiteit van Akron, Ohio, ontmoet en valt voor medestudent Christopher tijdens een voetbalwedstrijd. Met de steun van hun familie en vrienden beginnen ze aan een nieuwe relatie. Maar al snel komt een tragische gebeurtenis uit het verleden, dat met hun moeders te maken heeft, aan het licht en dit dreigt ze uit elkaar te scheuren.
